Food Safety Supervisor – NSW Refresher – Member
The NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is valid for 5 years.
Food Safety Supervisors holding a NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate must complete the NSW Food Safety Supervisor refresher course every five years within the guidance of the NSW Food Authority. This training course incorporates the 4 key focus areas as determined by the NSW Food Authority. You must provide a copy of your current or about to expire NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate and Statement of Attainment.
Food businesses have 30 working days to ensure their appointed Food Safety Supervisor renews their training and obtains a new NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate.
Please note you must submit with course assessments
- A valid NSW FSS certificate, OR
- A NSW FSS certificate that has expired not more than 90 days ago, AND
- Achieved competency in the current units of competency or recognised equivalent, (superseded) units of competency.

Delivery – Online: Participants will complete 3 online learning modules and assessments as well as learning material covering the 3 key focus areas
Task: Participants will complete a declaration and a short paper based task which needs to be returned for assessment and processing of the certificate
Duration – 2-4 hours including assessment and work based task
Recognition of Prior Learning Option – Where a Food Safety Supervisor is re-certifying, under certain circumstances the RTO can take into account the applicants prior learning, while providing training in the 4 key focus areas. The participant will need to be able to provide documentation as proof of currency in the role of a FSS and the price will be the same as the full course
Qualification – The NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, valid for 5 years
